Featuring Giftfully Simple.
I do not remember exactly how I came in contact with Courtney, all I know is that I had a pressing question about well.. blogging issues and Courtney was very kind enough to help me with my dilema at the moment that I most needed help.
Courtney is a mom,a blogger,a social media addict, the founder of tweetplosion and the designer of the 'Original Changing Clutch™'. She is also the owner of the online boutique 'The Apple of my Eye' that carries the cutest kids items (trust me I know).
Right now, there are two HUGE giveaways going on Courtney's blog: first the 20th century Fox and Paper Shouts giveaway and the second is the 'See Kai Run' Giveaway. The 1st prize for the 20th century Fox is a DVD from the movie BRIDE WARS and gift certificate from www.PaperShouts.com, the grand prize is a trip to Cancun and there are also other prizes like movie paraphernalia!
There is too much to say about Courtney and all that she does so to get to know her head on over there and check out her blog; her giveaways. Hurry up though, the first giveaways ends on May 8.

Nice award and 15 other blogs..
I received a lovely award the other day from one of my bloggy friends: Amy. This to me is the highlight of being a blogger: getting to know all the other people in bloggy land.
This is the award:

Here are the things to do with the award:
1) Accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award, and his or her blog link.
2) Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you've newly discovered. Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.
Here are 15 blogs that I think are 'Oh So Lovely':
1.Yoga Addicted: Mandy is a yoga instructor,a mother, a vegan and she LOVES the beach.
2.Marie-Eve in Montreal: Marie-Eve is well.. in Montreal (duh!), she is an avid reader, a writer, a mother and about to get married this in May!!
3.Surburb Sanity: Debbie just cracks me up.. period.
4.Growing up Artists: Jessica is a homeschooling mom of five kids and very witty; she has also been there for me since my humble beginnings in the blogging world.
5.Execu Mama: Akilah is a published author and mom to two girlies.
6.Cutiebootycakes: Renée is just fun to be around.. well her blog is.
7.Ohamanda: Amanda is a bookworm, a mom.. and she also post old black and white pictures (of her and her family) every wednesday on her blog which is really cool.
8.Single Mom says: Mindy is a single mom who is very honest on her blog about life, kids, love and the whole shabang.
9.Pinkandposh: Jeri is a mom of two, she also hosts lots of giveaways and contests on her blog, and is the owner of The Sweet Bowtique.
10.W/ Love Sincerely Posh Mom's Diary: Maki is an aspiring writer and also the ultimate ER fan.
11.Tatertotsandjello: Jenjen is a crafty mom of four who loves to shop and decorate.
12.Mommys Joy: Joy just writes it like it is..
13.Ignorant Historian: Ronnica is a God fearing sister, she loves books and everything related to the written word.. oh and she was my first commenter here (on my bloggy blog).
14.Baby Making Machine: Future mama is the girl with the baby blog but not baby.. YET! On her blog,She shares her ups and downs on the road to becoming a mommy.
15.Keeping up with the Schultz family: Amy is the one that gave me this award; and I am giving it right back to her since I think her blog is fantastic.

Attack of the Capital V..
My house has been plagued with the big 'V' or big 'T' however you want to call it..it is mostly my 5 year old(it's not gastro though, I just think the child ate too much of a good thing yesterday);so there has been a lot of bathroom runs, cleaning up and washing bed linens.. I am pooped.
But since I am finally feeling the SPRING air here in Montreal, here is a little quote:

Earth Day.

Today is earth day, so here are some tips that even the least earth conscious person can follow for a greener tomorow:
1. Recycle, Recycle, Recycle.
Get a couple of green recycle boxes for your house, it makes it easier when tossing things you can just flip the plastics and cardbord stuff in your bins
2.When not in use turn of the lights.
3.When bruhing your teeth use a cup full of water instead of letting the faucet run.
4.Think twice before pushing the PRINT button of the copier/print machine
Happy Earth Day!

Bye Bye Lumps..
They are officially gone! My lumps, my bazookas whatever you want to call them, have officially deflated. I have never been one to covet thy neighbors assets but lately I have realized that I am on the shorter end in some areas.
After having a baby (or babies in my case) most women usually think about how they are going to loose the weight and get back to their original goddess selves; that was also my case a couple of months ago. After baby #2, I was sure that things would never revert back body wise.. well, I was right; don't get me wrong I did loose the baby weight but I surely did not get my old body back.
I only had set myself up to loose some of the weight as I am not a fan of the size small (on me) and I really do like a litte junk in my trunk (the hubby likes that VERY much too) but for some reason all the exercises and yoga streches did nothing to revive the shriveled and flat lumps and chompas; but I am not one to despair nor give up 'I will get my lumps back!'.
At least one person is cute and chubby in this family

Flashbak!
I am a bit sleep deprived right now; baby Zazou has been battling a horrible end- of-winter-beginning-of-spring cold; which basically means: sick baby no sleeping for mommy... but a little Lauren Hill always get me going...

Bouncy Bouncy!
I am currently looking for some sort of bouncing device for my 6 month old, she seems to think that she can do everything that my 5 year old does. Now, I am constantly trying to catch her so that she does not get hurt from her escapades.
I call this the 'bouncy bouncy' stage, zazou can't stay still for one second especially when her older sister is skipping around. I am amazed at this though because Lala (my 5 year old) did not start this stage until she was around 8 months old.
I have a couple of bouncy thingies that I want to try out but I can only buy one, so maybe you guys could help me figure out which one to get and then I will tell you all about it.

but it seems that the above is no longer on the market because of all the accidents that have occured with the babies in them; that is a bummer because I remember my little one loving it so much.
So there you go, which one do you like..

Let's all do the PoTtY DaNcE!
I just love this commercial,This pull ups commercial has really won me over. I don't know if it's the singer/rapper or just the dance.. I find myself doing the potty dance all the time with my 5 month old even though she is not even near the age of 'the potty'.

Missing the 'Babble Jabble'
This does not happen to me often but today I miss the 'babble jabble' of adulthood. I do like my leisury days with the bossy 5 month old and the Hanna Montana fanatic 5 year old; but I so miss the times when I would get up, get all dolled up in my suit to head to work and grab my fav' Tim Hortons coffee on the way.
I do like spending this time with my daughters; I realise this the more time passes, I sometimes feel that they grow up so fast, I yearn for those great feelings I got when baby would kick in the womb, I love it when we are all crunched up together in the bed watching our favorite disney princess movie (we are girly girls!)
I do love ALL of that but sometimes it gets lonely out here in mommyhood; sometimes a little adult conversion is more then welcomed over here.

Kids say the DArNdesT things..
My 5 year old daughter, Lala, told me today " Mommy your butt looks like a fire truck!" Uh! What!.. and then she just runs off as if this was the most natural thing to say..

I am a SWAN.
A couple of days ago I too a 'yoga personality test' (yall may or may not know that I am a born again yoga fanatic), I am still thinking about what the results showed:
you are the swan
you are a stable, steady and calm, and seek peace in your relationships and world.
when life is in balance - you are loving, forgiving, and devoted. by far, the most compassionate of the three.
when life is out of balance - you can be stagnate and lethargic, which can lead to weight gain. (so right!)
though you are drawn to a slow steady practice, which brings out the best in you - you may also want to try a more invigorating, heated practice to balance you, like bikram or power yoga. you should avoid a practice that is too sedate, opting for a more dynamic approach either in breath, asana, or preferably - both.
your challenge is to tap into a powerful energy moving the prana throughout the body. try starting each day with a series of 5 sun a and 5 sun b salutations, beginning and ending with bastrika or kalabati breath to build heat, cleanse and energize the digestive system.
avoid spicy foods like mexican or indian - and be sure to eat lighter breakfasts and dinners, saving big meals for lunch. try raw fruits and vegetables. drink hot water, with lemon juice and ginger in the morning.
I don't know about doing the series of 5 sun saluations a and be in the morning.. with baby Zazou my plans are not always the ones that come first..

Hit the road Jack.. Uh Pat!
What do you do when your employer calls you up, while you are on maternity leave to explain that your employment will be terminated upon your return, do you:
A. Sing Haleluya because you have fallen in love with a little love bug baby name Zazou
B. Think WTF, how in the... are we going to make it! Be angry and disapointed.
C. Say Thank you and just let it be.
or D. All of the above!
Lately, a lot of people have heard the 3 words made famous by 'The Donald' on the Apprentice : " You are fired".
Is that GOOD or BAD...The bad.. the ugly is that I am disapointed by people, by working for people;and for someone who likes to work hard (just to have reason to play hard), I feel that I have been let down by the very people I have trusted to keep me up, or maybe I am asking too much of the corporate world, everyone knows that IT is a backstabber. The good thing, for me, is that I am not angry nor am I going crazy here, screaming like a maniac "WHY!!"; I have come to realize that this is life, nothing is guaranteed..certainly not employment.
Since this is the 'Let's reinvent Pat' year, that is what I had set out to do at the beginning of the year (the blog).. this is it.

Making friends Monday over at Kasey's blog
I stumbled upon Kasey's blog this morning and accidently added my name to Mr Linky... so now I have to own up, so here I go:
10 random things about ME:
1. Last friday after my yoga class, I did a 'Britney' thing and cut all of my hair off in front of the bathroom mirror.. YES, my husband thought I was nuts.
2. I love Tim Hortons Iced Cappuccinos.
3. I hate to cook even though I am beginning to be a pretty good at it.

5. I would love to stay home and take care of my children, Oh Yes that is what I am doing now.
6. I do not like to go out very much.. Yes, I am a homebody and PROUD of it.
7.I feel my eldest daughter is growing up too fast.
8.I don't have many friends.
9.I actually like to clean but I don't do it much.. Imagine.
10.I want to start my own business some day

Under Construction

I know I know, my blog is looking rather uhm.. weird latelty.
During my horrible sick days last week, my mind was not really as paralized as my body was so I decided to give my blog a little style lift. I guess it's a reflection of what I have been wanting to do for myself but the lack of moolah has prevented me of doing so(for me) that is why I am transfering all my energy to my beautiful bloggypoo.. Okay I will not be the one doing all the designing (leave the professional stuff to the professionals) but the blog will be trying on the designs...SWEET! I am very excited!
I will reveal my designing maven when the blog is covered in her "SHIZZA"

Sick as a DAWG!
For the past two days I have been sick with the flu; not the flu when you cough a little, have a little runny nose here and there; but THE FLU when everything in your body aches (even parts that you needed know could hurt). My throat does not accept food or liquids of any sorts.. so basically I feel like a ragidy dolls or maybe like the scarecrow in the wizard of oz when he could not stand up on his feet.
And to add to this insanity, my 5 month old Zazou is also sick; her little face is screaming at me: help, help mommy.. not that she is actually screaming that would be just plain voodooish..
So now I am off to my blurry nyquil world and my bed (that I am starting to hate since it's been 2 days that I am stuck in it.)

It's Mardi Gras aka FAT TUESDAY
It's Kanaval in Haiti! It amazes me that with all the political, social and economical issues going on in Haiti, everyone there always find a way to get together and celebrate..
In spite of the though times (recession and such), what (big or little) do you want to celebrate in your life? what do you want to show contentment for?

Valentine's DAY.
I am not a big valentines day fanatic, although I sometimes pretend that I am. It's a good day though, we give and we get nice fluffy feelings:
My husband gets me flowers (lovely flowers), I cook a nice restaurant-like meal (not that I am a great cook but I try), my daughter (the eldest) makes heart shaped cards just for mommy.. her new thing is that valentines day is for girls only.. Uh?!

School of Life.
I am trying to get my daughter (who turned five on january first) into elementary school, this is as confusing as it gets, nobody tells you what to do or where to go.. or maybe I am just so tuned out that I missed the signs. I have procrascinated enough on this though.
Growing up in Haiti private school is mostly all there is for those who can afford it (the blessing of living in Canada is that everyone has the chance to get an education if so they wish without forking up their whole life savings), I am not saying that the schooling system is better here nor there (God know I hated my catholic high school with a passion.. too strict for me) but at least there were not so may choices for my parents. Here there are too many choices.. private school, public school , special alternative school and even homeschooling.
One of my fears (I know can you say PARANOID!) is that I will choose the wrong kind of school for my daughter and screw her up for life. I know that the school does not raise the child.. I know that is our jobs as parents.. but kids spend so much time there, that choosing a school, a school that mirrors the values that I want to pass to my children is very important to me,or am I asking for too much?
Last night my husband and I attended a "meeting" in a nearby (near to our future new home) public alternative school. I was pretty pleased with what I saw in that school: parents are actually welcomed to help out in the learning of their child, of course there are teachers; but the parents have to come to the school for one hour every week to participate in their children's education.. and YES it's a public school.. All i Not lost!
Now let's just hope that there are enough spots available for all the parents that I met yesterday since it is a small school.

I'm Game!
Yesterday Ronnica answered five questions about her on her blog (they were asked to her by Evy) and in turn asked US (her blog fans ) if we wanted her to ask 5 questions.. of course I am game for anything that helps us learn more about one another as blogofriends , although I did not want too personal questions (Ronnica also took that into consideration) since I am still kinda weird about the whole revealing too much to the internet thingie.. So here they are:
1. Would you rather be home with one sick kid or travelling (by plane) alone with two kids?
I would rather be traveling alone with 2 kids, and all the madness that this entails, then being home with one sick kid.. I hate when my children are sick, I feel so powerless. My four month old daughter had a bout with Grastroenteritis aka the stomach flu and I really wish it was me instead of her. I guess I am really a sap when it comes to my children.
2. What talent or personality trait do you think gets most overlooked or underused as a mom?
Actually, I think that being a mom I get to use a variety of traits and talents that I did not even know I had: I get to be a teacher, an craftster/artist, a nurse, a cook, a friend, a police officer (that is when I really have to step my foot down).. and the list goes on.
3. If you had to eat the same thing for breakfast every morning, what would you choose?
I would choose to eat "soupe giromon" that is creole for pumkin soup; it's a typical haitian soup recipe.. It is made with the pulp of the pumkin and all kinds of veggies thrown in... Yummy!
4. Which season's weather would you give up if you had to?
That is just too easy: Please take winter away! I grew up in Haiti where it's always hot (probably one of the reasons I love hot yoga so much) and then I went to college at the Seventh Day Adventist University in Puerto Rico where not just the weather is HOT, I only moved here 5 years ago.. and I still can't get used to the whole winter thing!
5. What's your favorite book?
"Les Tazar" :This is a book that I read and re'read as a teenager and beyond, It's by a haitian author named Fernand Hibbert; we actually had to read this book in high school for class but I love it so much because of the reality it depicts, I also love it because of the feeling I get when I read it...as if I am in kid all over again.
If anyone wants me to ask them the "5 questions" just say it..

THe best of Me..
I have not been posting much of anything lately not because I have nothing to record on here my little bloggy diary, but because life has gotten the best of me lately.. Between the daycare drop offs and pick ups (for child #1), the school visits (for child #1), the vaccination appointments (for child #2),the sick baby (child #2), the dentist appointments (for child #1), the renovation of new house (YES we are moving to the suburbs, I am totally sad about it since I am and will always be a city girly but I am excited at the same time), between the yoga classes (yes something for me) and the going here and there and everywhere I have not had the time to think let alone post something on here.. but like I was reminding my bloggy friend Sarah 'if we did not have lives out of the blogosphere there would not be anything for us to blog about'.

Motherhood and Change.
I have changed.. after having my second child this summer, I have changed yet again. I am not talking about the rollercoater that you body goes through before and after the baby has arrived nor am I talking about the emotional challenges that comes with it. There is something about motherhood that changed me(it happened after my first child and it's happening again!).
I have never been the kind of person that desperately needs to climb up the corporate ladder (although I did study business in college); I am more of a working girl because I have to pay my bills kinda girl.
I can't help but think "is there more for ME". After becoming a mother to my first born, I had stoppped dreaming about visiting new and exotic countries or learning another language; but lately all of that changed.. maybe it's the fact that I celebrated my 31rst birthday this year, but something jolted this change in me, in the "life is short and you need to do something about it" kinda way .
Then I ask myself when you are a mother do your dreams still count? when do you have time (specially those single mommies out there) to follow your dreams, your path? where do you get the time in between diapers, schooling, work, cooking meals, house stuff, to actually do something.
I guess that is something I will have to figure out with time.

Why don't they get it!
This is probably going to come out as a RANT (hey we get to do that sometimes).. why don't people who don't have children get it; I do not mean all of them.. I mean some of them specially the young ones, they just don't get it.
Why do they call and tell the mother of a newborn "well since you are not doing anything...." HELLO newborn over here, she is not ANYTHING. or why do they say "why are you so tired you are on mat leave?" what do you answer to that question? Why do they come over and ASK to hold the baby and get all grossed out when she burps?
I am not against all childless person out there, some of them are really good friends and they are good for babysitting when one wants to get out with the hubbie; but some of them ( I know the percentage of those is real real low.. but..)the ones who think that having a baby or a child is like sporting a new hip bag or a new cool pair of shoes they need to get it together, or at least PRETEND TO GET IT!

Psycho Yoga
I have been doing this challenge called WOYOPRACMO since the first of january, the challenge is that I have to practice yoga for at least 10 minutes (hopefully more) during the whole month of januray, and report about it over at my WOYO page... but it has been very "challenging" with the baby:
This is what I posted today.. or is it yesterday since it's now 12:30AM:
"The baby thinks she has won today because I did not practice any yoga... well its 11:45 pm and she is finally asleep.. I think I am going to do some breathing exercises (breathing is good) and off to bed... I must be losing my mind for doing yoga at this time instead of going to sleep.. my husband thinks I have gone off the deep end!
Or maybe I am psycho because I'm talking yoga to a baby! "
I know it is going to get better the older she gets.. but I can't help but feel so overwhelmed and tired. Maybe I just need some sleep.

Bloggy Blog World.
Last night, I was lurking around at growingupartists' blog and what do I see.. She nominated me for a friendship award. When I started this blog, oh so long ago (just kidding), I mostly did it for myself.. well you know the story. I surely did not know that I would "meet" so many cool, inspiring, smart and even cardio happy women, who make things happen online and offline.
Thank you growingupartists for the nomination and the friendship.
Now you reading this check her out... I will not be so selfish as to keep her for myself anymore.

Mother...Daughters
I had decided when starting this blog that I would not reveal to much of myself (my physical apprearance that is).. but that picture speaks more than words..

(I do reserve the right to pull this picture off the blog at a later date; I know I'm still a scardy CaT, I guess it takes a while to rid oneself of fear...)
Even in my quest to free myself from my internal critic, to free myself from stereotypes, to free myself from fear and to find myself deep under all of that.
The most important part of being mE is being their MoThER.
