Get outta my bed!

I have been trying to figure out, for a couple of days now,  a way to get my 10 month  uhm.. two year old out of my bed and back into her own bed. She was actually sleeping in her bed  when she was a tiny baby; then I don't know what happened she slowly started  moving into my bed.. and then taking over  my room.
Now when I ask her to put one of her toys back in her room she actually goes to my room. That was the last straw.. I don't even have a room anymore, so now I need to devise a plan to get her out..

What strategies did you come up with to get little ones out of your bed?

We had the same situation. What worked for us was to do it in stages. So first we put his toddler bed by ours, and let him sleep in there until he was used to it. Then, we bought him a new "big boy bed" and made a big fuss about it, so he was really excited and eager to sleep in it. We put it in his own room, changed a few things in there so it would feel new and enticing, and... it worked. At the beginning I would sometimes go lie into his bed with him to reassure him though, but so far, so good. He still tends to wake up during the night, but we started a reward system to encourage him to fall back to sleep on his own and not come to our room: he gets a small toy for every 3 "good nights". Good luck!

I would imagine that it is just going to take some repetitive actions like putting her back in the bed each time she sneaks into yours, but if you hold out long enough, she will eventually give in and sleep in her own bed. I agree with the make a big fuss over a big kid bed though and try to make it as attractive of an option as possible, but be prepared for tears and don't give in. If you give in, you will never reclaim your bed.

Ugh mine comes in all the time, drives me crazy. We put her mattress in our room, she falls asleep and we put her in her own room. She has nights where she'll sleep in her room all night, but still has yet to fall asleep in there. I really hope she grows out of this fast, as she will be 4 in April. Good luck to you!

I still have a 2 1/2 yr old bed hog in bed with me. Hopefully soon he'll want to sleep in the room wth big brother but no telling when that will happen You can try falling asleep with her in her room then sneak back to yours. Just a thought

GOOD LUCK

My duaughter transitioned very easily no fights into a toddler bed from my bed. Our middle son never slept in our bed, even while nursing I would place him back in a bassinet on the side of our bed. My youngest, well he was an issue. We had his crib next to our bed for the longest time and slowly moved it away, and now he is two and in his own bedroom with his four year old brother. It took about a week of half crying to get him to sleep in his crib. We don't believe in crying it out, so I did rock him some nights and had to keep placing him back in his crib next to my bed.

If you wait for the kid to voluntarily move into their room, it'll be a while! My 4 year did this over the summer but he would go to sleep in his room only to wake around 1am to climb in bed with me. I tried everything but finally figure out why he kept getting up in the middle of the night. I adjusted the temperature of his room and gave him an extra blanket. Now he sleeps soundly in his own room every night!

Just be consistent and try to figure out what's going on with them and fix the problem they have with their room (temps, boogie man, etc). Most kids are happy to go back to their own room.

Oh girl I totally know what you mean. My daughter had taken over my room to the point that I have to sleep on the couch! She won't even share my bed with me ! Hope you are able to figure out a way to get your little one back in their bed.

My girl is going to have her own room at the new house so I'm hoping that I will be able to have my room back !

We have two toddlers, and they don't get in our bed. My son will crawl up in my bed in the morning, but only long enough to poke me in the eye and say "Mommy, I yunna eat."

We coslept until they migrated out of our bed LOL It usually happened around the second year. Just keep encouraging her and make it a fun, exciting transition. Don't push too much or she'll resist. :) Good luck!!!

By the way, she's SO freaking adorable :)
